Poetry Performance and Reflection

Students have two options for performing their poems.

1. They perform their original poems in front of the class

2. OR they can submit recorded versions performed at home in front of a camera with help of friends and/or family and uploaded to tiktok, reels, youtube, etc. These can be played in class.

After the performance, have a class discussion on the unit’s essential question.

  • How did the poetry and creative expression activities help you understand more about yourself?

Lesson Closure

  • Have students write a final reflection about the process of creating a poem and what it revealed about your own identity.

Assessment can be based on:

  • Participation in discussions and activities
  • Quality of poem annotations
  • Final poem, graded using a rubric based on theme, creativity, use of literary devices, and performance
