Lesson 4: Songwriting (Part 2)
Overview
Students will review the various components of what makes up a song and do another listening exercise like the previous lesson. From there students will be given time to start creating their own song lyrics.

Students will do another songwriting component identification activity just like the previous lesson.
- Have students write down each of the components of the song on their lyrics handout.
- Students can either highlight, circle, or any possible to identify the Title, Subject, Theme, Hook, Verse, Chorus, Bridge.

Independent Work Time: Songwriting
Now that the students have listened to several songs and seen what songs are comprised of, now is the time for them to have independent work time for the rest of the class session to work on their own songwriting.
Teacher Note: Provide potential prompts for students to think about as they are thinking about songs they could be writing about. These prompts can be related to the artists they have listened to throughout the lessons or something that is more personal to them.
