“Peter LaFarge was a New York-based folksinger and songwriter of the 1950s and 1960s. He had Narragansett ancestry but was adopted as a child by the Tewa Tribe of the Hopi Nation.

He is known best for his affiliations with Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, but his songs have been covered by many artists, including Jim Pepper, Pete Seeger, Floyd Red Crow Westerman, John Trudell, Keith Secola, Blackfire, Micki Free, John Densmore, Hank Williams III, Felipe Rose, Russell Means, Kris Kristofferson, Shea, Mitski, Gillian Welch, and Marvin Rainwater
