Overview

“The six-time Native American Music Award-winning band Blackbird fuses Native American flute and contemporary rock into a genre they self-classify as ‘Alter-Native’ rock. Blackbird, a four-piece ensemble hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, is a testament to the power of cultural diversity. Each member, with their unique cultural heritage and tribal affiliations, brings a distinct aptitude to the band’s music. The band is named after co-founders and brothers Cody and Caleb Blackbird.” – Say Magazine.

Biography

"Co-founded by brothers Cody Blackbird and Caleb Blackbird, the band has shared the bill alongside The Black Eyed Peas, Wayne Newton, Jewel, Jason Mraz, John Trudell, Joanne Shenandoah, John Popper and Blues Traveler and a host of others. The band’s first two studio albums were produced by Kenny Lee Lewis of the Steve Miller Band.  Their latest album, Existence is Resistance, produced by Jason Cropper (co-founder of Weezer), features contributions from John Popper of Blues Traveler.
