Opening Activity
- Return Thinking Organizers to students.
- Briefly review concepts from the unit, including the essential questions.
Assessment
√ Distribute the Assessment handout
- Give students 25 minutes to complete the first half of the assessment.
- Then, explain that they have two options for the second half.
Option A: Song Analysis
Option B: Lyric Writing Then play Lila June’s Water is Life and either analyze it or use it as inspiration for their lyric writing.
For Differentiation purposes, the teacher should allow for students with diverse learning needs to take the assessment through an oral exam versus writing down the answers. While other students are writing, the teacher can work with diverse learners in a small group setting or individually.
